Syntic Desktop accessibility

Syntic Desktop lets you choose a light or dark appearance, change the text size of conversations, and use or remap keyboard shortcuts for most actions. Screen reader support has not been fully tested yet, because the app is still in preview.

Appearance and text size

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Under Appearance, choose Light, Dark or System (follows your computer’s setting).
  3. Under Font size, use Increase font size or Decrease font size. This changes the text in conversations only, not the rest of the app.

Keyboard shortcuts

  1. Open Settings › Keyboard shortcuts, or use Open keyboard shortcuts.
  2. Browse the groups: Application, Message input, Menus and dialogs and Approval area.
  3. Use Search shortcuts to find an action, then Edit shortcuts to change its key.

Some shortcuts can be marked Open from anywhere, so they work even when the app is not in front.

If you see “Could not save. Your previous shortcuts and current draft are preserved. Please retry.”, nothing was lost; try again. If the shortcut file is damaged, the app falls back to the default keys.

Screen readers

Buttons and menus carry text labels (for example, the model menu announces the current model and effort). We have not yet tested the whole app with screen readers such as VoiceOver, NVDA or JAWS, and some parts may be read poorly. If something does not work for you, tell us your screen reader and system through Contact support.

Syntic Code, the terminal app (public download coming soon), has a dedicated screen reader mode.
