Turn off two-step verification
To stop being asked for a code at sign-in, remove your authenticator app in Settings → Security. Think twice first: without it, anyone who gets into your email can get into your Syntic account.
Remove an authenticator
Open Security settings
Go to Settings → Security and find Two-step authentication.
Choose Remove
Next to the authenticator, choose Remove.
Read the warning and confirm
The Remove authenticator dialog explains what changes, then confirm.
What happens depends on whether it’s your last authenticator:
| Situation | Result |
|---|---|
| You have another authenticator | That one and your recovery codes keep working |
| It’s your only authenticator | Two-step verification is off, and every unused recovery code stops working at once, including saved or printed copies |
In the Syntic Console
In the Console, open your account menu, choose Security (2FA), and use the delete icon next to the authenticator. You’ll see “Factor removed”. It’s the same account setting, so this turns it off in the main app too.
When you can’t turn it off
If your organization has HIPAA-ready mode switched on, every member must use two-step verification. You’ll be sent back to the Security settings until an authenticator is set up.
Switching to a new phone?
You don’t need to turn two-step verification off. Add the new phone first, then remove the old one, so you’re never left without protection. See Lost your phone or authenticator if the old phone is already gone.
